Marc Clerens founded Clerens Consulting (CC) in Brussels in 1991 and managed it for 13 years. Currently he continues supporting CC through the French CC branch in southern France, where he lives since 2003.
Before creating and launching his own business Marc gained consistent experience in the marketing and sales sector, with large international companies. He started in 1961 with Brown Boveri & Cie (Switzerland) and then joined in 1963 L.M Ericson AB (Stockholm and Middle East).
Early 1969 he was hired by Standard Elektrik Lorenz AG (SEL), an ITT company, where he occupied several functions in their export department. In 1974 he started working for a SEL Board Member developing new products and markets. In 1975 he was promoted as Sales Manager for the Navaids Division. Until his departure from SEL in 1978 he strongly increased its profitability.
In 1978 he got a “Godfathers offer” from Rockwell International (USA) covering various European marketing activities for several electronic divisions in the defence and front-end computing domains.
The instability in the structure of the international operations of Rockwell prompted him to accept a very interesting offer from Siemens AG (Germany) where he became end 1980 Senior Director (Prokurist) in charge of the Military Radio Division sales. After 4 successful years (Sales +45%, Profit from -8,7M DM to +29M DM), he was asked in 1985 to take over the General Project Management (GPM) of a very large security project in the Middle East, which had run into serious problems, leading to the refusal of the previous GPM. End 1987 he managed to reach agreement with the Saudi customer on a new cooperation basis and was early 1988 asked by the Siemens General Management to open and direct the new Siemens EU Liaison Office in Brussels.
Marc holds an electrical engineering degree and speaks fluently German, English, French and Dutch.
